Google modifies its stance on gambling advertising

Google will revise its "Gambling and Games" policy. Clearer definitions of several gambling-related categories and modifications to country-specific standards are part of the amendments.

Enforcing responsible gambling advertising is the goal of the revised policy. It mandates that casino advertisers follow local laws and, if required, keep up-to-date certifications. Advertisers who promote social casino games, gambling-related content, and online gambling must also make sure they only target nations that have been approved, present information about responsible gambling, and refrain from marketing to children.

A more thorough analysis of gambling ads that are allowed and those that are prohibited is a crucial component of the updated policy. Online gambling advertisements, such as those for online casinos, sports betting, and lottery ticket sales, will only be permitted in certain nations if certification requirements are satisfied. Affiliate sites and other content that promotes gambling must also follow local laws and avoid directing users to unauthorized gambling services.

Ads for offline gambling, such those advertising real casinos and poker events, will continue to be restricted based on the nation. Promotions for social casino games must also be certified and include explicit warnings that there is no real money gambling involved. To prevent account suspensions or ad disapprovals, advertisers must make sure they are adhering to Google's certification standards.
